Between this Saturday, October 24, and Saturday, November 14, Serenbe's calendar moves through the community one weekend at a time. It starts with the Showhouse's last days in Overlook and the art park off Atlanta Newnan Road. Then it goes to Mado, up to the Grange, over to Hutchesons Ferry Road, and back to Mado for a trail race on a new route. Each weekend has its own address, and most of them are an easy walk from home.
Weekend One: Overlook's Last Showhouse Days, Then Birds in Deer Hollow
The 13th annual Serenbe Designer Showhouse at 260 Winston Way opened October 1 and has its last tours this Sunday, October 25, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Serenbe Planning & Design designed the house, Phillip Clark Custom Homes built it, and Mister + Mrs Sharp are credited with the interiors. Ten firms worked on the rooms:
- Mister + Mrs Sharp
- Benton Parker Design
- C. Walker Designs
- Elizabeth Joice Interiors
- Forbes Masters Design Studio
- Gabriela Eisenhart Interiors
- Joey b Collection & Design
- Lisa Ellis Design
- Vivian Bencich Interiors
- Wyeth Ray Interiors
General admission costs $35. The money goes to the Decorative Arts Fellowship with Art Farm at Serenbe, so the Showhouse helps pay for the arts program that also fills the rest of this weekend. If you drive, park along Serenbe Lane in Overlook, stay out of reserved, no-parking and coned spaces, and follow the signs from Serenbe Lane to Winston Way.
Saturday has three stops, in this order:
- Farmers Market, 9 a.m. to noon, at 10640 Serenbe Lane.
- Flock of Birds Artist Talk, 1 p.m., at Deer Hollow Art Park, 8455 Atlanta Newnan Road. It's free, you don't need to RSVP, and there's a reception with light bites and drinks afterward.
- Anis Mojgani and Sarah Kay, 7:30 p.m., a poetry evening from Art Farm at The Pavilion, 10950 Hutchesons Ferry Road.
The afternoon talk is about something you may have already walked past. Art Farm describes it this way:
"This fall, more than 150 handcrafted blue birds took to the trees of Deer Hollow's lower clearing."
Flock of Birds is the art park's first rotating exhibit. Dorothy O'Connor based the piece on bird murmurations. Each bird is made from handmade Nepalese Lokta paper and coated in resin to stand up to the weather, and some carry twigs, seed pods or pine cones. O'Connor works in photography, installation and public art. She is a Hambidge Fellow and a former artist-in-residence at Cheekwood, and her work is in the permanent collections of MOCA GA and Cheekwood.
Weekend Two: Mado Takes the Street
On Sunday, November 1, the calendar moves to Mado for Dia de Los MADO, a free family street fair at 11090 Serenbe Lane. Serenbe's listing promises live mariachi musicians walking through the crowd, specials from local businesses and a scavenger hunt.
That address matters again two weeks later. The Fast Bananas Trail Race on November 14 uses the same 11090 Serenbe Lane address, and its new one-mile race is called the Mado Mile. Mado hosts two of the four weekends, the only hamlet that gets a second turn.
On Tuesday, November 3, Serenbe Farms holds a separate pop-up market from 4:30 to 7 p.m. at 8715 Atlanta Newnan Road, selling fresh vegetables, eggs and cheese. It's open after work, which helps if Saturday mornings are already taken.
Weekend Three: The Grange on Saturday, Hutchesons Ferry Road on Sunday
Chatt Hills Porchfest is Saturday, November 7, in the Grange hamlet at 10638 Serenbe Lane, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Admission is free. The listing promises local musicians, regional artists, food trucks, vendors and family activities. It runs ten hours, the longest of anything on this calendar, so you can drop in whenever suits you.
On Sunday, November 8, the action moves back to 10950 Hutchesons Ferry Road, the same address as the October 24 poetry evening, for the 20th anniversary of Afternoon in the Country. The event runs from 2 to 5 p.m. and is hosted by Les Dames d'Escoffier Atlanta. The ticket page lists 80 participating chefs, restaurants, farms, wineries, breweries and distilleries, with live music from Lilac Wine Band. Serenbe's calendar shows a price of $300. Proceeds go to scholarships for women pursuing careers in food, agriculture and hospitality, to Georgia's farming community, and to organizations fighting hunger.
This is the second ticketed event this fall that raises money for a cause. The Showhouse supports an Art Farm fellowship, and Afternoon in the Country supports scholarships and hunger relief. Porchfest, the Flock of Birds talk and Dia de Los MADO are all free.
Weekend Four: Back to Mado, on a Different Course
The Fast Bananas Trail Race runs Saturday morning, November 14, from 8:30 a.m. to noon. If you ran it last year, you'll notice changes. The organizers say the 5K and 10K routes are being moved from their 2025 paths because construction is planned near the start and finish. The start and finish line won't be at the pool this year. It moves a little farther up Promfield Road, in front of the Terra School. Courses will be marked with arrows and color-coded flags, and the organizers post the maps on Strava ahead of race day.
Race | Course flag color | Registration |
|---|---|---|
Mado Mile, new for 2026 | Pink | $25 |
5K | Yellow | $58 |
10K | Blue | $68 |
Registration is on RunSignUp. Race-day parking is in a gravel lot on Promfield Road, with volunteers directing cars. Promfield will be closed to traffic that morning, and the race page asks Serenbe residents to think about walking over. If you're not racing, it's also a morning to plan any errands around Promfield.
The organizers also noted that the 5K start and finish was still being updated when they posted the 2026 maps. Check the Strava link again the week of the race.
After the Fourth Weekend
The weekend events end on November 14, but there are two more dates for the calendar:
- Saturday mornings: The Farmers Market keeps its 9 a.m. to noon hours at 10640 Serenbe Lane.
- Thursday, November 26: Thanksgiving dining runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at The Hill and Austin's, and from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at The Farmhouse.
The Farmhouse stays open an hour later than the other two, which helps if you want a later meal.
